Quick-Step breaks new ground with elegant, high-performance Rigid Vinyl flooring

Flooring brand Quick-Step is proud to announce Rigid Vinyl: a ground-breaking new flooring solution that combines elegance with optimum performance. The unique combination of flexible and firm core layers gives Quick-Step Rigid Vinyl a host of advantages, including protection against indentation, anti-telegraphing properties, and unprecedented ease of installation – even on irregular subfloors.

Due to the invention of the patented Uniclic® click system, the first of its kind, Quick-Step has become synonymous with laminate flooring. Today, the brand is again at the forefront of flooring innovation. This time it’s pushing the boundaries of vinyl flooring with Rigid Vinyl, under the banner: ‘Elegance was never this strong’.

The telegraphing trade-off

“One of the major challenges of flexible vinyl flooring is ‘telegraphing’, or the appearance of irregularities in the surface of the floor after installation,” explains Laurent Meersseman, R&D director at Quick-Step. “To eliminate telegraphing, many manufacturers have introduced rigid materials like SPC or WPC. Both floor types have a few important disadvantages, however. When someone walks over an SPC floor, you’ll hear an annoying plastic ticking. With softer materials like WPC, on the other hand, the floor is prone to indentation caused by, for example, furniture and chair legs. Neither option is ideal.”

Silent, soft and unbelievably strong

In its quest for a solution to this problem, Quick-Step developed a unique composition combining flexible and stiff materials for its Rigid Vinyl. Laurent: “We opted for a composite core integrated with flexible layers. The result is a floor that is not only extremely sturdy, but a pleasure to walk on as well. It’s amazingly soft and absorbs the sounds in the room. In addition, the composite core with fibreglass layers ensures resistance to temperature fluctuations and impact damage. It also protects the planks against dents and makes Rigid Vinyl suitable for every subfloor. On top of every plank, our super-resistant layer eliminates the risk of stains and scratches.”

Everything you love about vinyl, and more

Just like its flexible sibling, Rigid Vinyl gives you all the practical benefits of a synthetic product: a watertight floor that feels soft and warm underneath your feet. Thanks to cutting-edge HD-printing techniques also used in flexible LVT, the design of Rigid Vinyl is almost indiscernible from real wood. And naturally, flooring planks are equipped with Quick-Step’s state-of-the-art click-in system for easy installation.
